What you up to?

Last night I was going through the supermarket checkout. In the checkout next to me there’s a guy starting to unload his groceries.
A moment or two passes and he realises that he knows the guy in front of him. Anyway, after the obliged hello’s were exchanged, the other guy says to him “what are you up to?” to which he responds “not much man”.
I felt like saying to him “what the hell does it look like mate, he’s doing his fscking groceries!”.
